In the early 80’s, Jay started running a branch of his uncle’s flower shop in East Detroit. He quickly established and maintained a great reputation in the area, which lead to him starting his own company in 1990, and the rest is history.

Jay has been a steady staple in East Detroit for over 35 years, and has a great heart for the community. The most important thing that he tries to live by and teach, is to work hard for your money and be wise with it. Not only does he teach those who come by his shop, but he teaches floral design at Wayne County Community College.

There aren’t many businesses left in his area, but there’s a reason why his store remains successful. His motto is, “Elegant designs with you in mind.” His top priority is always the customer. Much of his work consists of funeral arrangements, so I asked if he considered it a large part of his job to be a comfort for those mourning. He said, “Absolutely. You have to lead the customer and make it one less thing they have to worry about.”
